Chateau Sociando Mallet, Haut-Medoc 2015
The wine has an opaque black/purple color and tastes tight, requiring coaxing from the glass. It has flavors of crushed rock, white flowers, graphite, blueberries, and cassis. It is medium to full-bodied, with a finish that is unbearably rough. Dusty, even the forest floor; dried blackberries, cloves, dried plums. Beautiful scent, especially considering how fresh the vintage is. Much more vibrant in flavor, with notes of rich blackberry, cloves, vanilla, and cedar. Round tannins have a moderate amount of acidity. This wine goes well with lamb, steak, and game (venison, deer).
