The 2015 Goulee was bottled in April 2018. Plenty of black fruit, hints of bell pepper and tobacco tucked in just underneath. It is not complex, perhaps even a little rustic, but in a positive sense of the word. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannin. This feels lightly peppered in the mouth with that sprinkling of powdered dark chocolate from oak. Nicely structured with plenty of freshness on the finish.
Deep purple coloured hues lead to a perfumed nose of dark fruits, cocoa, sweet vanilla and clove spices. The full bodied palate is soft and generous with ripe fruit, silky tannins and a smooth finish.

On the palate, the tannins give a certain impression of firmness, somewhat softened by a nice, harmonious texture. Persistent flavors in the aftertaste.
