Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan 2014
Tasting Notes:
Rich in tannins and juicy wth black currant acidity. As befits a second wine, it is developing well and easily.
Chateau Marquis De Terme 5eme Grand Cru Classe, Margaux 2010
Tasting Notes:
Château Marquis de Terme is a classified fourth growth Grand Cru Classé estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux's Médoc wine region, on the so-called left bank of the Gironde estuary. Intense crimson. Nose of jammy red fruit with pronounced oak. A mix of warmth and straightforward structure on the palate with sharp tannins. Fruit resumes the jammy nose style. A perfumed yet slightly linear 2010.
Food Pairing:
Beef & Venison
Chateau D'issan 3eme Grand Cru Classe, Margaux 2015
Tasting Notes:
Château D’issan is a Third Growth of the 1855 Imperial Classification. The wine is made from the old vines in the Château D’issan enclosure in the middle of the Margaux appellation. The soil here is mainly made up of surface gravel on top of a clay subsoil, which contributes to optimal ripeness and freshness in our two grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It has plenty of black plum flavor, although the firm tannins will play an important part in its development. The ample acidity and fresh finish are other harbingers for the wine's good future.
Food Pairing:
Beef, Lamb, Poultry
Chateau Dauzac 5eme Grand Cru Classe, Margaux 2009
Tasting Notes:
Very spicy from dominant new wood. The black plum skin and blackberry fruit are still waiting to come out. It gives the feeling of a wine that has some austerity, although with a year or two in bottle the imbalance will go. It does feel as though it will always be a firm wine.
Chateau Cantenac Brown 3eme Grand Cru Classe, Margaux 2010
Tasting Notes:
Chewy and structured, with ripe fruit and ripe tannins. Tar and dark fruit character. Full body. Super polished. Very Cantenac-Brown in personality. Best in a long time from here.
Chateau Giscours 3eme Grand Cru Classe, Margaux 2015
Tasting Notes:
There are generous helpings of blackberries and cream on the palate here and they sit wonderfully alongside the elegant Margaux femininity. Fine tannins, crunchy black fruit and excellent length. There is a wonderfully tasty minerality, structure and texture, which is typical of this commune. Focused and direct, it is a real pleasure to taste this wine. This is a serious, grown-up Ch. Giscours. I love the precision and character. It is so representative of Margaux.
