Château Marquis de Terme is a classified fourth growth Grand Cru Classé estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux's Médoc wine region, on the so-called left bank of the Gironde estuary. Intense crimson. Nose of jammy red fruit with pronounced oak. A mix of warmth and straightforward structure on the palate with sharp tannins. Fruit resumes the jammy nose style. A perfumed yet slightly linear 2010.
Beef & Venison
The 2015 Goulee was bottled in April 2018. Plenty of black fruit, hints of bell pepper and tobacco tucked in just underneath. It is not complex, perhaps even a little rustic, but in a positive sense of the word. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannin. This feels lightly peppered in the mouth with that sprinkling of powdered dark chocolate from oak. Nicely structured with plenty of freshness on the finish.
Beef, Lamb, Roasted Veal
The 2015 Réserve de la Comtesse is a superb second wine. Time in barrel and egg white fining have softened some of the tannins the 2015 showed as a barrel sample, but the fruit intensity, pedigree and class of the estate are all in the glass. Black cherry graphite, smoke and licorice are some of the many notes that infuse this potent, almost shockingly virile Comtesse.
Pédesclaux’s second wine is a flower that unfurls as you approach. Thanks to its reliance on a high proportion of Merlot, the wine is soft and gentle, with a delicious, silky texture. It has intense, compelling and savoury fruit aromas and, year after year, beautifully calibrated scents of white flowers, violets and small red berries. n the mouth, it is fresh, subtle, packed with fruit and beautifully smooth tannins, with a long finish
